Emerging Wisely – Phase 2

June 15, 2020

The Government of the Northwest Territories (GNWT) has moved to the Relaxing Phase Two of Emerging Wisely! Here’s a detailed plan of the territory’s way-ahead on relaxing the public health and travel restrictions imposed in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic.

Key points to be noted:

  • Outdoor gathering limits have been increased
  • Businesses and organizations can start operations with precautions in-place
  • Offices can have a maximum of 25 people per floor, only if they can accommodate as many while following the physical distancing of at least two metres between 2 people

Updates on Travel Restrictions and Self-Isolation Protocol has been devised in a way to form a two-territory travel bubble between Northwest Territories and Nunavut. NWT residents and Nunavut residents can visit either of the places without the need to self-isolate upon return. (Only when Nunavut has completed the requisite changes to their public health orders.)

Future amendments will be made to the travel order to allow exemptions for residents of the NWT who are employed as:

  • Airline employees
  • Flight crews
  • Supply chain workers
