About Illumination Holistic Family Services
Founded by Jennifer Swanson, Illumination Holistic Family Services is a mental health and counselling practice providing holistic psychological and counselling services for individuals, couples, and families.
It offers both in-person sessions and a secure virtual counselling service, making mental health support accessible to a wide range of clients.
To strengthen its digital presence and improve accessibility for clients seeking counselling services, the organization partnered with GTM Canada to design and develop a professional website that reflects its compassionate mission, clearly communicates its services, and enables clients to easily learn about the practice and book consultations.
PHASE 1
Information Architecture
The first phase focused on defining the website’s content structure. We reviewed the organization’s services, counselling philosophy, and target audience to design a clear framework for presenting information.
Activities included:
- Understanding client needs and user behavior
- Categorizing counselling services and informational resources
- Planning navigation pathways
- Creating the overall content hierarchy
This phase ensured that the website’s structure supports a seamless user experience for individuals seeking mental health services.
PHASE 2
Sitemap and Website Wireframing
Once the content structure was defined, a detailed sitemap was created to outline all website pages and their content. Following this, wireframes were developed for the website’s key pages.
These wireframes illustrated:
- Layout structures for each page
- Placement of headings, content sections, and images
- Navigation menus and internal links
- Consultation booking and contact areas
This phase helped visualize the user journey and allowed the client to review and approve the website structure before moving into design and development.
PHASE 3
UI Design and Website Development
In this phase, the conceptual structure created during the wireframing stage was transformed into a polished visual design and a fully functional website. The UI design focused on creating a calming, professional, and welcoming aesthetic suitable for a counselling and therapeutic services website.
Website development activities included:
- Implementing responsive design for various screen sizes
- Crafting the website interface and layout
- Integrating interactive features such as contact forms
- Optimizing site performance and usability
This phase ensured the website delivered both strong visual appeal and functional reliability.
PHASE 4
Website Launch
The final phase involved deploying the website and making it publicly accessible. Prior to launch, the GTM Canada team conducted thorough testing to ensure that all pages, forms, and navigation features functioned correctly.
Key activities included:
- Final testing and quality assurance
- Cross-device compatibility checks
- Content verification and formatting adjustments
- Deployment of the website to the live environment
Following the launch, the website became a central platform where clients can explore services, learn about the team, and connect with the organization for counselling support.
